Description

This presentation will examine the hermeneutical methods proposed by Johann Gerhard and Elizabeth Mburu, comparing their theoretical frameworks with an eye toward positing a synthesis of classical Lutheran and contemporary African hermeneutics. This study will be based on Gerhard’s Theological Commonplaces I-II and Mburu’s African Hermeneutics (Bukuru, Nigeria: ACTS Publishing, 2019). Is Mburu’s four-legged stool compatible with Gerhard’s hermeneutic?
