In today’s globalized world, Christians have an ever-increasing opportunity to share the Gospel among the nations, either abroad or here at home. While the Gospel does not change, how it is perceived through the lens of culture can affect understanding.

Concordia Seminary’s 2019 Multiethnic Symposium seeks to raise the awareness that many people that the Church is trying to reach with the Gospel come from an honor-shame culture, even here in North America. Unlike the individualism of most westerners, an honor-shame culture stresses the well-being and value of the group. Honor-shame culture is prevalent among those from a non-western world, or the “majority world.” Even young adults in America who value authenticity and connection are becoming more shame-based.

So what does this mean for sharing the Gospel? How can we reach a diverse population right here in North America? In this symposium, discover how the Gospel is a powerful witness for people from an honor-shame cultural point of view.
