Abstract

The overall purpose of this project is to examine the issue of justification of the believer, and in particular the mechanism through which justification is accomplished. This will be analyzed from both the Catholic and evangelical perspectives. One secondary purpose is to see whether the doctrine of justification can be used to achieve the unity that the proponents of the "Evangelicals and Catholics Together" dialogue have been seeking to achieve over the past several years. Catholics are able to come to The basic question is whether evangelicals and a consensus on this critical doctrine, or if these two branches of Christianity are totally incompatible on this issue.
