Abstract
This thesis shall argue that Paul's interpretation of Gen 2:24 in Eph 5:31 is typological. He sees Christ as the second Adam who has come to accomplish what the first Adam failed to do, not only by giving himself up for the church, his bride, but also by establishing the "one flesh" union with the church, his body.
