Abstract

In this study the multiple ministry to be considered is the multiple pastor ministry in the typical arrangement of senior pastor and assistant pastor, or assistant pastors. Although many of the dynamics of the situation are the same, this study will not deal explicitly with the team ministry or the co-pastor ministry where an attempt is made to make each pastor equal in the eyes of the members of the congregation. Since the primary concern is that of the relationship of the pastors, other aspects of the multiple staff ministry including relationships with non-clergy staff will not be considered. This research paper is a profile of a psychological view because psychology is too large of a field of study to discuss all of the various theories and their relationship to the multiple pastoral ministry.
