Abstract
This thesis deals with socia1 and professional fraternities. I will first discuss the origin and history of college fraternities and. sororities and their general organization. In two further chapters I will discuss some fraternities on the basis of their constitution, their by-laws, and their rituals for the purpose of ferreting out whatever objectionable religious features they may have. In a final chapter I will attempt, on the basis of the, evidence found, to evaluate the program and purpose of college fraternities and sororities.
