Abstract
The main purpose, or course, of' the apologies in general, and of the use or the Logos concept in these apologies in particular, was to present to the unbelieving world a justification for the worship of' Christ by the Christians. Since the Logos concept was a current and accepted one in both the pagan and Jewish world, if it could successfully be identified with the person of Jesus Christ, a great victory would be won. And, to a large degree, that attempt was eventually successful, as Dean Inge points out when he characterizes the Logos-doctrine as "the formula which converted the intellect of Europe to Christianity.”
