Abstract

The problem addressed in this thesis is twofold: (1) Should synonyms in the NT be differentiated? (2) How can the five Greek words for power in Paul's writings be differentiated from one another? The continental divide in interpretive approaches is explored in the initial chapter on modem linguistics. In the balance of this thesis the five words for power are studied to identify the potential of differentiation.
