Abstract
This year, however, we shall take a different course; our approach to a study of some of the menacing evils will be indirect. The charge has been prominently made that liberalism has invaded the Missouri Synod. Whether the accusation is justified or not, we shall not now endeavor to determine; let each one settle the question with respect to himself before the forum of his conscience. Our intention is to look at liberalism itself, to clarify our views on that subject, and through such a discussion to furnish food for thought which will be of aid in our preparation for another twelve months' pilgrimage.
