Abstract
In view of the importance of the matter, we return once more to Paul's discussion in 2 Thess. 2: 3-12, where the apostle sets forth that before Judgment Day the great falling away will occur and the Antichrist, whose nature and activities are described at some length, will put in his appearance. The passage was expounded verse by verse, various interpretations were presented, and finally augments were advanced why the Lutheran Church in its Confessions has justly applied this passage to the Roman Papacy. Since this historical line of argument is of particular significance in our day, we refer to the matter once more.
