Abstract
The primary purpose of this thesis is threefold: first, to arrive at an exegetically sound interpretation of the meaning and significance of the image of God in Genesis 1:26-28; second, to arrive at an understanding of the purpose for which man was created in the image of God; and third, to determine the relationship between Genesis 1: 26-28 and Psalm 8.
