Description
In Jesus' last night with his disciples before he went to the cross, he prayed for them and for all who would believe in him through their message, "that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me" (John 17:21). During the 50-year existence of our denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), we have in various ways acted contrary to this prayer of Jesus, particularly regarding issues of race and unity in the church. At the same time, our denomination has worked and continues to work to correct its past transgressions and chart a new way forward in unity in the Gospel ministry. This presentation will explore both the failures and triumphs we've experienced and seek to learn from as we continue forward for the glory of God, in the name of Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit.
