Abstract
Throughout the centuries the name of John Tauler has never passed into oblivion. He has been recognized as an outstanding preacher by the Protestant as well as the Catholic Church. J. H. Kurtz, the Protestant church historian, has called him "one of the most powerful("gerwaltigsten") preachers of all time." The Catholic scholar, Klemens Loeffler, considers Tauler as "one of the greatest mystics and preachers of the Middle Ages."
